The aim of this set of nail art is to provoke memories of hazy summer afternoons, filled with the romantic fragrances of old fashioned English roses. The techniques utilised in its creation are reminiscent of china painting techniques that produce soft delicate images with a gentle feel.
STEP 1
Gloss was buffed off the tips with a white block.
STEP 2
A tinted glaze was mixed by combining a thin UV finishing gel with a fluid airbrush paint in no more than a 50/50 ratio for all colours used. This achieves the translucent quality necessary for the final look.
STEP 3
Background colours [ pink and blue ] were applied with a small gel brush and brushed over with a soft watercolour brush to blend and soften the effect.
STEP 4
Nails were cured in a UV lamp for 150 seconds.
STEP 5
Clear finish gel applied to seal background colours and provide a smooth surface for subsequent glazes.
STEP 6
Using a pink tinted gel glaze the outlines of the roses were added with a fine liner brush. Then I used a small gel brush to fill in the petals.
STEP 7
Cure for 150 seconds
STEP 8
Add dimension and definition to the rose petals with a darker pink glaze mixed from the original pink with small amounts of red and green mixed in.
STEP 9
cure for 150 seconds
STEP 10
Further colour was added to the background with a blue glaze and cured.
STEP 11
Stems are now placed with a brownish glaze and cured.
STEP 12
Clear gel is added to seal all layers so far.
STEP 13
Further colour and shadows are then placed into the background with a thin brownish green and cured again.
STEP14
Leaves are further defined with a green glaze and cured in.
STEP 15
Yellow centres are added to the roses and fine details to foliage and stems and cured for 150 seconds.
STEP 16
Finish with a clear gel top coat and a final cure.
